Hygiene Recall Service:

Your hygienist may require you to have a more frequent cleaning, other than the usual, every 6 months period. Some patients depending on their oral health, will benefit by having a 4 months or 3 months visit.

  • If you need frequent removal of biofilm, a colonizing bacteria that forms in your mouth and sticks to the tooth’s surface (aka: as tough Plaque) and calculus to help prevent Gum disease.

  • If you are on Blood Thinners or taking long list of medications including drugs for Osteoporosis

  • If you have active Gum Infections or Periodontal Disease;

  • If you have a dental appliance such as Braces or Retainer;

  • If you are Pregnant - Pregnancy puts you at a higher risk for tooth decay and gum disease. This is because hormonal changes increase the risk of developing gum disease which, in turn, can affect the health of your developing baby.

The “every 6-month rule” may not be sufficient for everyone, especially if you are predisposed to gum disease and gingivitis, or if you have a fast rate of tartar build-up, we may want to see you more often.

  • Prevent Plaque Build-up: When plaque builds up it causes discoloration of the teeth, tooth decay and gum problems.

  • Help Prevent Decay: Diagnose tooth decay early! With proper professional cleaning and annual exams, we can help prevent decay left untreated and minimize the option of cost procedure in the future.

  • Detect Gum Disease: We can help detect the first sign of gum disease before it becomes a serious complication. If left untreated it could cause pain, swelling, bone loss, and eventually loss of teeth.

  • Minimize costly procedure: Identifying oral problems early can help you minimize cost by treating them early before the problem develop into a complicated and cost procedure.

  • Gain Self Confidence: Regular visits will ensure healthy smile and boost your self - confidence.
